Health coverage for you and your family.

If you do not get insurance through a job, you still have options. I'll help you compare individual and family plans, understand what you would pay, and enroll with confidence.

Who this is for

Coverage when work does not provide it.

People usually come to me at one of these moments.

A flower shop owner working on her laptop

Self-employed

You run your own business or freelance, and your coverage is up to you.

Between jobs

You have left a job or lost employer coverage and need something in place.

Retiring before 65

You need a plan to carry you until Medicare begins.

Covering a family

You want one plan that works for a spouse, children, or both.

How plans work

What you are really choosing between.

Every plan balances two costs: what you pay each month, and what you pay when you use care.

  • Metal levels. Marketplace plans come in Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Bronze plans generally have the lowest monthly premiums and the highest costs when you need care. Platinum is the reverse.
  • Financial help. Depending on your household income and size, you may qualify for savings that lower your monthly premium. We can check this before you choose.
  • Networks. Plans work with specific doctors and hospitals. If keeping a certain doctor matters to you, we confirm they are in the network first.
  • Prescriptions. Each plan covers its own list of medications, so we check yours against it.
Timing

When you can enroll.

There are two ways in, and one of them does not wait for the calendar.

Open Enrollment

Starts November 1 each year

The yearly window when anyone can enroll in a plan or change the one they have. The closing date depends on your state and has changed in recent years, so check with me before you count on it.

Special Enrollment Period

After a qualifying life event

Losing other coverage, moving, getting married, or having a baby can open a window to enroll outside Open Enrollment. It is usually 60 days, so it helps to act quickly.

Supplemental coverage

Fill the gaps your main plan leaves.

Most health plans, and Original Medicare, do not cover routine dental, vision, or hearing care. Supplemental coverage is separate insurance you can add on its own.

Dental

Helps with cleanings, fillings, and larger work such as crowns, depending on the plan.

Vision

Helps with eye exams, glasses, and contact lenses.

Hearing

Helps with hearing exams and the cost of hearing aids.

Other coverage

Additional plans can help with costs your main insurance does not pay. Ask what fits your situation.

You do not need to buy your health plan through me to add supplemental coverage, and you can add it at any age.

Prefer to look around first?

Browse individual and family plans and see estimated prices on your own. I'm licensed in multiple states, so ask me if you are not sure about yours.
